Pink Sapphires
Pink sapphires are among the most captivating and desirable colored gemstones in fine jewelry. Known for their romantic hues and impressive durability, pink sapphires offer a striking and meaningful alternative to traditional gems, making them an increasingly popular choice for rings, pendants, earrings, and especially engagement jewelry.
What Is a Pink Sapphire?
Pink sapphires are a variety of corundum, the same mineral family as rubies and blue sapphires. The pink color comes from trace amounts of chromium, with shades ranging from soft baby pink to vivid fuchsia. If the concentration of chromium increases enough to turn the stone deep red, it is then classified as a ruby.
Pink sapphires are found in several locations around the world, with major sources including Sri Lanka (Ceylon), Madagascar, Myanmar (Burma), and Tanzania.
